Celebration Of Afghanistan’s Culture Human Rights, The Work Of Glasgow Afghan United & The Legacy Of Ahmad Shah Masoud- Massoud Foundation UK
September 17 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Glasgow Afghan United would like to invite you to speak at our special event celebrating the work of Glasgow Afghan United, Human Rights, Peace, social Justice and the life of Ahmad Shah Masoud. In recent years Glasgow Afghan United has held parliamentary receptions, supported by Bob Doris MSP and Patrick Grady MP.
This year a traditional parliamentary reception is not possible, but we still intend to have a virtual ‘joint’ parliamentary reception where MPs and MSPs will be invited to cone along. We are pleased that Bob Doris, MSP for Glasgow Maryhill and Springburn and Patrick Grady MP for Glasgow North will again support our event and be in attendance this year.
This event will be an important opportunity for those attending to hear about how Afghan communities in Scotland and across the UK are inspired by the legacy of Ahmad Shah Masoud, the National Hero of Afghanistan. The event will seek to celebrate human rights, peace and social justice with a focus on our national hero as well as the contribution of the Afghan community in Scotland.
– Bob Doris MSP and Patrick Grady MP
The event will begin at 15:00 pm and there will be short speeches from other keynote speakers including
– Bismillah Mohammadi Defence Secretary of Afghanistan
– Mariam Azizi from Masoud Foundation UK
– Asma Hayat London based Human Rights Activist
– UK Arm forces (TBC)
– Sandy Gall
– Marcela Grad
– Arman Bostani Young Community Member
This will be followed by time for discussion and an opportunity for MSPs and MP to hear from members of the community.
